So Easypeasy 1.6 should be released in the near future.  Currently, Easypeasy is built off of Ubuntu 9.04.  Easypeasy 1.6 should be based on Ubuntu 9.10.   With a new release before Jolicloud’s HTML 5 update, the people at Easypeasy could have a leg up on Jolicloud on the release schedules.   When will Jolicloud release their update?  Only answer so far is ‘Soon.’

Has it been confirmed that Jolicloud plans to update their release at all? The packages that it’s using from Ubuntu 9.04 are almost a year old already. I love Jolicloud, but failure to update it would be a good reason for me to drop it.

If you’ve done all the updates, you’ve got a newer Kernel than Ubuntu 9.10. You can go in and change the repositories to Karmic, but it’s probably best to wait until the Full Beta is released. My guess is that they will use mostly Jolicloud repositories and use .deb’s to install & maintain. Thx!

Hey Jeff,

I have been making an attempt to try out Jolicloud, but those people are just NO help at all. I could not get the express to install at all. Well, it did, but when I went to boot up, it did not work. I posted my problem multiple times and got ignored I emailed them to the support email, and still not rely.

I have sense downloaded the ISO to a USB stick. But I still had a few questions, so I wrote them again. I am waiting.

I saw a site the other night that had some people taking about the old, and out dated software thats in the repository. The rep that was in the site said that he had no official comment. That was it.

Both are not a good sign. But I have been wanting to give it a fair chance.

I have also had some problems with other distros booting up too. But easypeasy 1.6 works well. The only problem that I have is that I have to download lot of extra stuff to get things to work like DVD movies, drivers, (the Ubuntu restricted downloads.) And something extra still to operate my DVD-R-RW. I do not mind, I just with that it was better posted. But there is a guy at EasyPeasy thats great, He answers people hourly! And with answers! And he s easy to understand. Not at all stuffy.

The other netbook distro, Pepermint, I can not get the to boot either. And they are not to much help either. And the instructions are not all that clear either. But when have tried to boot from my USB, I get a blank screen. That also has happen with Mint 10, and even Ubuntu.

I really wanted to use Mint. As its suppose to have all the stuff on it alreay to make a system usable. It use to boot up, but now get a blank screen too.

It just makes no sense.

Well, if you can help me any about Jolicloud, please do. I have not totally given up.

Rob
