A potential Jolicloud competitor has released their latest version – EasyPeasy 1.6 has been released today.
Like Jolicloud, EasyPeasy is built off of Ubuntu. The latest version of EasyPeasy is built off of Ubuntu (10.04 Lucid). This allows them to use the latest version of Netbook Remix, and to not use HAL for hardware – which results in a quicker boot and better resume from standby.

Download the newest version from the EasyPeasy Wiki page.

Do you have updating issues with Jolicloud?
On mine, I get to go to updating, and it sits forever, then errors out – I can retry, which goes through the same process.
Jolicloud has issued a patch for this problem. Go through the following:
Open up My Jolicloud, go to the Updates tab:
Click on the link and select save:
Once you save the file you need to located it in your Downloads folder.
To locate your downloads folder, go back to the Jolicloud launch menu, click on any folder on the right.
Once in a folder, click on your profile name in the top of the left menu. Then click on Downloads. I found mine in Jeff/Downloads:
Open up the file and package manager will begin the install. If it warns the same one is available in the software channel, that’s ok. Click on Install Package in the top right:

You may have to give your password to begin. Once that has been completed, run your Update manager again. I had a few updates that were required after. Now, I’m up to date!

Congrats, I’m up to date:

The color scheme & graphics have been tweaked quite a bit in the past few days. Robby Final may be coming soon, have to keep our fingers crossed

From the official Jolicloud Twitter account:
“We have refreshed our theme, please update your system and restart your session!”

The new graphics look more like a cross between 9.10 and 10.04 Ubuntu graphics. Hopefully the HTML5 Launcher & App Center are next!!

Two pieces of Dell news in the past few days:
The removal of the 10v is troublesome for those who wanted to make a hackintosh out of the 10v, but with the 1012 out there (especially with Broadcom’s HD accellerator) there doesn’t seem to be a huge demand for the 10v anymore. RIP 10v.
The 7 & 10 inch tablets might be because of the recent success of ipad, but who knows, maybe Jolicloud could revolutionized the touch screen linux area just as they are trying with netbooks.
As of now, no official word from Jolicloud on any touchscreen support in the near future.

Could this leaked shot be the new startup and shutdown splash sequence?

This new cartoon like theme could mean a more graphically and whimsical Jolicloud is in the works – or I might be completely off again
Enjoy the pic, hopefully HTML5 menu is up next!
