More news from Jolicloud’s twitter account:

Jolicloud tweet:

Finalizing Via C7M (1st gen netbooks) and Atom Pinetrail (Latest netbooks) support. Moving from 98 to 99.9% compatibility!

The plan was the have as much support for all netbooks as possible before the full Beta.   With the full Beta release, the new HTML 5 menu system should be next on the list :)

HTML5 Support

So what exactly is HTML 5 and why is it so important to Jolicloud’s success?

A really good description of HTML5 is available from no else than Wikipedia’s HTML5 entry.

But a quick synopsis is:

  • Slightly new markups using more CSS, better backwards compatability
  • New elements & attributes
  • New Form options
  • Newer Error Handling

New API’s

  • Document Editing
  • Drag-and-Drop
  • Media Playback Options
  • 2D Drawing

One of the most important for Jolicloud’s successes is the ability do Silverlight, Flash, and Java-esque technologies without having to rely on those plug-ins.    That means a faster, media enriched web experience with just a simple browser – no plugins.
